Great ignorance. Saul learns the lesson that God knows everything about him. At the same time, he was a young man who knew nothing about God's prophet, Samuel, nor about the revival described in chapter 7!
Great Sermon! I have been working through sermons on Jonah here & elsewhere & would recommend this & continuation in no.12 as solid, thorough, enlightening & vivid.
Great work of God. Blessed remembrance of the history of FPC, its stand for the Word of God and for evangelism. I am thankful for what God did through this movement.
Great power of God. Gideon longed for the power of God manifested in the old times. Gideon is sent and empowered by God for the work. Great sermon about a wonderful revival.
Dealing with sin. Revival starts with dealing with the foe within, with sin. When you have dealt with the foe within, Satan will start to attack you from outside. But the Church must not be worried about the foe without, because God will give her victory. We must be afraid of the foe within and deal with it.
Great Savior. Jesus is the subject of John's sermon, Jesus is the sacrifice for our sins, Jesus is the Savior of our souls. Great evangelistic sermon.
Name of the Savior. The precious Name of Jesus Christ - a name to be praised, a name to be trusted, a name to be proclaimed. We must proclaim a message of justification, a message of joy and a message of judgment.
Great man of God. Powerful and blessed message! What a great man made God from Stephen, a Christian full of the Spirit, a preacher full of power, a saint full of zeal and courage! Very encouraging message.
Healing divisions. Satan attacks the church from inside and there is the danger of division. God resolves the problem, giving the church the wisdom to deal with spiritual mindedness with the problem. The result is that the work of the Lord prospers.
Great Sermon! Christians today have not prepared their hearts to seek the Lord and it is a sin, says Pastor Cairns. When Jesus says to enter your closet he is saying you must separate yourself from every distraction; that if you would have communion with God you must get away from everything that would hinder it. Remember Ezra, says Cairns. He PREPARED his heart to seek God. Do not rush into the presence of God. Attend first to God's Word; the Word and prayer must always go together. There must be a preparation and that preparation must be attending to God's Word. C.H. Waller once said out it this way: "Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth" is no bad preparation for "Hear Lord, for thy servant speaketh." If we would want to be able to speak, first of all listen. We have lost the secret of listening to our God.
"There is a place for continuing all night in prayer but prayer is not great because of it's length!", says Cairns. "it's great because of it's depth."
We will find that the Word will give us great thoughts of God, in preparation for prayer. You can actually pray your way thru the chapters of the Bible. When you come to any chapter, what does it teach you about Christ? The Word will convict you of your sin, enable you to pray, motivate you to.
Great grace in salvation. A sinner with a sacrifice; a saint with a testimony; a prophet with a message. Powerful sermon about God's grace in salvation.
