The amazing response. The text of this sermon is not Luke 7, but Luke 9:18-22. The people in Israel didn't know who Jesus was and their attitude toward Him was wrong. This text gives a response to the question and shows who Jesus really is.
Great Sermon! So relevant for today, but seldom preached upon! Do we believe that we live in and need "saved from this wicked and perverse generation", or not? Clearly few are "saved from" out of it, since they traffic in it's *lifestyle*! Loose living is given room under the pretenses of "judge not", charges of "legalism", talks about "remaining sin", and an ungodly "tolerance", and "Christian liberty" is used in order to traffic in modern vices, addiction to immoral media, imitation of the world, and glorification of ungodly Hollywood--American Idolatry! There is a "tolerance" and "liberty" that "turns the grace of God (which all seem to profess) into lasciviousness"--which is lawlessness, and "sin IS transgression of the law". This sermons challenges that PRACTICAL HERESY of Modern Christianity.
There IS a Holy War, but Captain Resistance has been slain easily, and Conscience compromised, and Satan's regiment has entered by both the stealth of Trojan Horses, and now in the outright assault, especially making use (again, like in the 1960s) of modern Youth, so that there is "no fear of God before their eyes". "Children will be disobedient to parents" is now entirely fulfilled, and there is only a "form of godliness, while denying the power thereof".
Biblical purity. I agree and I admire the FPC stress on individual purity and ecclesiastical purity. This is the biblical teaching. I am thanking God for what He has done and is doing in and through FPC.
Great salvation. The first 20 minutes are a report of the work of FPC in England. The three gifts of grace are: the abounding salvation in Christ; the power of believing the Gospel; the assurance of salvation.
Full glory. Revelation 21:23 is the final answer to the prayer of Moses. In the New Jerusalem we will see the full glory of God on the face of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God.
Transfiguration of Christ. A sermon of Matthew 17, about the transfiguration of Christ. The disciples were taken by Jesus apart to a special time of fellowship and revelations and they saw His glory. Great lessons for Christian life and fellowship with the Lord.
Carnality. Sin and carnality make us to not see the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. We must repent and seek the Face of God. Powerful sermon.
Glory of God in Christ. We must seek the glory of God not in an abstract manner, but on the face of Jesus Christ. Every true pious man will express the desire to seek the Face of God.
Great salvation. Great work of God in salvation: He justifies and regenerates the sinner. The changed heart will manifest itself in righteous deeds.
Great Sermon! Dear Pastor Alan, Thank you for sharing not just the gospel but your life as well. I hear your heart as you speak. I feel your pain and that blessed burden given by God to carry. Many have droped it to the ground and went 'free' to do easier ministry, like you said. I have learned to appreciate the fellowship with this exquisite burden, the taste of the Word of God in my mouth and heart. I made a covenant with God when I first got saved that He should use any means to keep me on the narrow way of the cross. That if I refuse and try to backslide, He should please take me to heaven. I am still on earth as I write you this letter. I am in full time ministry as a missionary in Nigeria. I thank God for you and for your ministry. You are a blessing to me. Love in Christ alone, Lia Leigh.
Devastated and shattered? Take my hand. You look broken and tangled up. Still searching for that which will pick you up and carry you? That road you're on, is it narrow or wide? Narrow and all bad road. Then search no more. Come on in and sit here, and listen with your broken heart. This is John Wagner, a friend of God, and 1 of the chief sinners, just like you. John was once like you. Lost, devastated, and spiraling out-of-control in utter darkness straight toward the gates of hell. Then it happened. Christ shined His light, and threw His lifeline to John. He had just enough strength to grasp it and hold on. He was pulled safely on the banks of Jordon, and the promised lands. Had enough of emptiness and lies from every direction? Then dry those bright eyes and listen while John tells you an old story, and 1 that will turn your head and heart around to strong arms that will pick you up, keep you safe, and carry you all the way to paradise, and home. What story you ask? The story of a Cross. The high Cost, and the innocent Blood that washes whiter than any snow all who come. Ever flown on blessed wings? Then prepare for heavenly skies. John will tell you of Spurgeon, but Christ will tell you of His friend John Wagner and hear him, for he speaks of me, thy Lord, and the only rescuer of helpless wandering souls, like you.
