“ Glory to Christ. ” A salutation from God to His people, a description of God, the joy of the saints, the divinity of Christ. A message highly exalting Christ.
“ Following Jesus. ” False discipleship (exemplified by Ananias and Sapphira), the conditions of discipleship, the continuation and the fruitfulness of discipleship.
“ The book that preaches Christ. ” An introduction to the Book of revelation, stressing the point that it is a revelation of Jesus Christ, that the message of the book is about Christ, that the book preaches Christ.
“ Compassion for sinners. ” A message about Christ's compassion for sinners. The believers today lack a compassion like Christ's for sinners - we need to feel toward them as Christ did.
“ Christ in the home. ” I liked the idea from Mark 2:1 that people must see and know that Christ is in our home. Our home must be a place of communion with God, of service and where the power of God is working.
“ Salvation is of the Lord. ” Great proclamation of God's initiative and sovereignty in salvation. Salvation is the work of God, not a synergism, man helping God to save him. Our great comfort and hope is in this powerful doctrine of the Bible.
“ Wonderful. ” What a powerful message! The rich young ruler pretended he was interested in eternal life, but his heart was bound to this earth and he saw not his sins. Excellent exegesis, arguments and application.
“ Role of Scripture. ” A blessed message about the role of Scriptures in the life of the Christian. The Scriptures give us illumination, understanding of Christ, wisdom, power, energy, comfort.
“ Powerful. ” The people of God have to be sorrowful for the state of the church in our times. We must acknowledge the state of the church. At the same time, we must rejoice in what we have in Christ and to trust in God, who is sovereign and who will revive His church.
“ Great Sermon! ” Dear Pastor Alan, Thank you for a wonderful sermon! As I listened to you I saw something new. Praise God! As a medical doctor and pastor myself, I have to deal with the desire of people to 'make me king' and to 'worship me'. This desire in people has to be dealt with; if not, it will bring the leader into a place (of sin) where he is 'forced' to share some of the glory with God.
I see here that Jesus has two strategies:
With the (political) crowds Jesus withdrew Himself from them.
With the disciples, especially Peter, He had to confront that tendency in them. He chose the place of confrontation on top of the sea, their familiar 'ground'. He commanded 'good cher'. Peter responded with 'bad' cher, fleshly confidence that he can do what Jesus does, with the rest men as audience. When he sank in the water and Jesus saved him, it was clear who is the Lord (and who is not). Peter and all they had to learn that there is only One Lord,Jesus Crist! Worship cannot be contaminated by man, even at his best moments. Thank you for helping me see this new (for me) revelation.

“ Position and provision. ” We must realize what our position and our provisions are in Christ. We must walk according to our wealth in Christ. We were not saved to live like paupers, but abundantly in Christ.
“ Powerful. ” The choice and confession of a true disciple; the cross and the cost of true discipleship; the count of the price, the character and the crown of discipleship. Powerful sermon.
“ Need for progress. ” A powerful call for Christians to progress in their Christian life, in the knowledge of God and of the Scriptures, of serving God.
