A man can become religious much more easily than he can become Godly. He can be religious all by himself...but to be Godly, he must be made so by God in the first place, and walk with God in the second place. As our culture grows more antagonistic to God, it also becomes more antagonistic to the Godly man. Our culture accepts the religious...but is growing in its impatience and intolerance of the Godly. Yet even our struggle is light, and the Lord's yoke is easy...because He is with us. He is our strength, our high tower, our shield and our buckler. If I thought for a moment that being Godly rested in my strength, I would be overcome with doubt and fear because I know my weakness. But I put my hands to the plow, my shoulder to the work, and my knees to the ground in confident prayer because He is with me...He is with His church...and He is all any of us will ever need.
