TUESDAY NIGHT SERVICE THIS WEEK: 7:30

Too Many And Too Much– By Henry Mahan

We have entirely too many fears for a people to whom the Lord has said: “Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isa.41:10).

We have far too many doubts and fears concerning God’s mercy, love, and grace for a people to whom the Lord has said, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out . . . I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish: (John 6:37; John 10:28).

We spend entirely too much time grumbling and complaining about our trials and troubles for a people to whom the Lord has said, “In the world you shall have tribulation but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

We have entirely too much attachment to this world and to this present life for a people who are looking for a city whose Builder and Maker is God (Hebrews 11:8-10).

We have far too much anxiety, care, and fear, far too much concern for the earthly, material things for a people to whom the Lord has said, “Your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things” (Matthew 6:32)

TRY as I may, I cannot avoid hearing and reading the things that are being said and written today. I pick up the newspaper at times, knowing full well what is in it; all the false reports and biased articles. I turn on the television and hear all the slanted stories, the endless ranting and raving of self-righteous politicians, the ‘findings’ of modern science, all the opinions and comments of every loud mouth Tom, Dick, Harry and Mary, and especially all the religious blasphemies and lies . . . and it all sickens me. Yet . . . it does not influence me in any way, for I truly believe God’s Word concerning all things. I can truly say with David, “ I esteem all Thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way” (Ps.119:128). And I wholeheartedly agree with the apostle, “Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” (I Cor.1:20). There is nothing that anyone can say, nothing anyone supposedly discovers, and nothing that can happen which will, in any way, discredit or disprove one Word in God’s Word. I truly laugh at the attempts of man to do so. How about you? Can anything or anyone unsettle or disturb your faith? If not, then you are grounded and settled in the Truth. And remember this; the natural man is enmity against God, is a liar by nature, and a self-loving creature. He will say or do anything to promote and protect himself. He will make up lies to try and disprove God. That is his evil nature. God is true. God cannot lie. God is righteous in all His ways. The Lord God, alone, can and should be believed.

No Grace But Sovereign Grace

There is no grace but free and sovereign grace, no election but eternal and unconditional election, no redemption but particular and effectual redemption, no salvation but by the irresistible grace and omnipotent power of God the Holy Spirit, and no security but by the absolute preservation of God’s immutable goodness. And any pretended gospel that does not proclaim these things is, as Paul says, “another gospel” that is damning to the souls of men. -- copied
