Central Grace Church

3596 Franklin Street . Rocky Mount, Virginia

July 24th, 2016

9:30 am ______________________________________________ Found & Finding Others – John 1:40-46

10:00 am_______________________________The Lamb and His Followers – Revelation 14:1-7

We rejoice with Mike and Karen Anderson upon their profession of faith in Christ by believer’s baptism, and joyfully receive them into the fellowship and membership of this local church.

“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.”

Volunteer needed. We need one of you men to take on the responsibility of maintaining our lawn equipment. The equipment needs work presently and continually to keep it in good working condition. This is a much needed service upon that which the Lord has graciously provided us; a service as good stewards of what He has given us;

. . . and is unto the Lord.

Nursery Today: Second Service: Jill O. , Alt. -- Polly P.

Cleaning Schedule: This week: John & Irene, Next Week: Rick & Katherine

Lawn Mowing: This week: Steven Parks , Next week: Patrick Holland

Birthdays: July: 24th – Vikki Patton, August: 1st – Joseph Parks, 2nd – Doris Mahan & Tom Canterbury

4th – Laura Bobbitt, 6th – Abigail Hudson, 7th – Bonnie Stanley

"Be Not Weary in Well-doing" -- Gal. 6:9; II Thess. 3:13

If you ask me what I fear most for myself and for you — the answer may surprise many of you. I fear and tremble when I see spiritual indifference and weariness with the things of Christ and when I detect a luke-warmness toward the gospel. The Word of God and spiritual literature goes unread. Worship services, Bible classes and fellowship with believers are neglected. Interest in others hearing the gospel and coming to Christ begins to wane. More attention is given to houses and lands, farms and jobs, entertainment and fleshly pursuits than to matters that concern the soul. Our knowledge of Christ becomes a thing settled instead of a relationship sought. The Christian race becomes the Christian rest. The spirit of humility, "Less than the least" gives way to pride, self-interest and hurt feelings. That sweetheart love for Christ and the things that relate to Him begins to decline, and our comfort is no longer a person but a profession.

Brethren, if we grow weary in what little spiritual atmosphere we have here, we could never find happiness in the altogether holiness of heaven. If we tire of Him Who loved us and gave Himself for us, when we hear it only three of four hours a week, how could we endure an endless song by every voice in heaven and earth singing His praises? If we had rather be in the company of the world than in that blessed company of the redeemed — then this will most likely be lost forever! Men do die as they live! – Henry Mahan

Guilt

“And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.” -- Genesis 16:5

There is no drug that can put away guilt. Guilt can drive a person mad, and he may not even know why he is so upset all the time, or why he is so angry at others all the time. Guilt drove Sara to blame Abraham for Hagar’s bad attitude toward her. (Read the story in Genesis 16). Sara became very mean to Hagar over her own sinful plot. Guilt will destroy a peaceful home, a life or lives (for we never sin alone; someone is always affected). What is the remedy for guilt?

1. - Only the blood of Christ can quiet a guilty conscience.

2. - Ownership of our guilt. Blaming others will not take it away.

3. - A powerful work of grace in the heart. We must be broken.

4. - Return to the Lord; . . . as the Lord said to Hagar in verse 9 “return and submit thyself to your mistress (master). O guilty one, return you to the Lord and submit to Him. He delights to show mercy. Confess thy guilt to him; he can cleanse thee from all unrighteousness. No matter what caused the guilt; it can be taken away by the blood of Christ. There is no drug for guilt; flee to him who alone can put it away. – John Chapman
