“ Exposing misquoters! ”
It's a good lesson for wannabee heresy hunters. There is much research and time involved in this sort of thing, and Patrick here has carefully and painstakingly exposed the wickedness of partially quoting great Reformers, the cause of which was to deceive others into thinking John Piper's stance was an historic one in terms of Reformed thinking. Clearly - thanks to this excellent message - it is not, but rather a grievous error and a false gospel. The church needs deep thinkers to counter this sort of thing, and we should praise God for them.

“ Great Sermon! ”
I do not agree with Claudia from N.C.. I see no harm in pointing out heresy. When I read or hear from men or women who misconstrue God’s infallible word with doctrines of demons, I cringe and I painfully cry out to God in pity for the insanity going on in HIS church. I encourage those men who will stand up boldly for our God with the truth! This is one of the myriads of reasons why our Lord stands outside the Laodicean church of today, knocking on the door of our hearts. We are either in a lethargic sleep, dead, insensitive to the Holy Spirit Of God, or just too caught up in our own crumbling, hopeless world. Oh God, send more men who will stand for truth in righteousness! Because the battle for truth is almost a comedic joke!

“ Dark Times Indeed ”
The two above comments are symptomatic of a church culture that has entirely lost its ability to discern truth from error and is far more driven by emotion than by truth. Both comments sadden me greatly. Where is your love for Jesus Christ and the all-sufficiency of His work to save His people from their sins? Where is your zeal to protect His honor?

“ Critical Spirit? ”
Claudia from NC, we are talking about the very gospel of Jesus Christ itself and a direct denial of it coming from John Piper, and then attempts by his supporters to enlist Reformers and Reformed theologians on his side of this controversy. Pathos has to accompany such a thing because the eternal destinies of people's souls are at stake. The one true gospel is at stake. Would you say Paul had a "critical spirit" when he wrote this: Galatians 5:12 "I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves."

“ Sermon with a Critical spirit ”
Hi there! I just listened to Pastor Hines’s sermon on his opinion on John Piper’s message. Regardless of whether he agrees or not, I don’t think his critical and harsh spirit helps or honors God when it comes to handling the truth of God. We’re talking about a believer here for whom Christ died. I think Pastor Hines would be more effective if there was more humility in his speech. Thank you.
