Salvation is a rich concept. It begins in the Old Testament with God saving the children of Israel from their enemies. In the New Testament it includes Jesus' rescuing his disciples from the storm on the Sea of Galilee and his healing the woman with the issue of blood. But salvation climaxes in Jesus' taking our sins on himself, saving our souls from hell. Salvation also points us to the Second Coming of Christ.
To wear the helmet of salvation is to remain confident in all these aspects of salvation, knowing that all things work together for our good and confident that we cannot come under condemnation because Christ died for us. In the middle of a world filled with chaos and danger, we wear the helmet of salvation confident that the King is coming soon.
