The Lord Jesus Christ told Peter that Satan had demanded to sift the Apostles like wheat (Luke 22:31). Then he told Peter that he had prayed for him specifically that his faith would not fail (Luke 22:32).
Peter's faith did not fail and he was restored after his lapse of faith. This was because Jesus prayed for him.
But Judas was lost and never restored. Nowhere are we told that Jesus prayed for Judas' faith not to fail. This is in keeping with our Lord's high priestly prayer, where he doesn't pray for the world but for those who had been given to him by His Father (John 17:9), including future believers (John 17:20).
The Lord Jesus is still praying for us. His intercession at the right hand of His Father is how we are saved and kept. It is part of His saving work, along with His death, descent, resurrection, ascension, and sending His Holy Spirit. His blood washes away our sins, and his intercession brings down God's blessings on us.
My mother was an intercessor. When she grew weak and old, God raised up another woman who stands in the gap for me.
