On Sunday, March 27, 2011, Central Louisiana lost a great leader. Elton Pody was the two-term mayor of Ruston, Louisiana. After that he was brought to Central Louisiana 20 years ago in the awareness that our Air Force Base would soon be closing.
God used Mr. Pody to bring industry and jobs to our community. He was truly a great man. And, as men go, he was a good man. But he was not good enough to go to heaven -- only the Lord Jesus Christ is that good.
But Mr. Pody trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, and he is in heaven. He battled cancer off and on for six years, and in spite of much pain, he continued to work up until roughly three weeks before his death.
