While God will sacrifice everything in our lives in order to promote our growth in godliness (Romans 8:28, 29), we can trust that the Lord blesses hard work, thrift, investment and generosity. When we are pursuing God's Kingdom and his righteousness, we may expect that God will bless us with all we need, not only fully to meet our own needs, but also with money left over to give away to others.
Prosperity does not mean having all the money we want, nor even necessarily a lot of it, but it means that we will have adequate financial resources, on a day to day basis, so that no one under our financial care (e.g. church, family, employees, etc.) will be deprived of the necessities of life because of us (2 Corinthians 9:6-11, note especially verse 8, where 'sufficiency' means 'the state of one who supports himself without aid from others').
The Bible teaches that there is a connection between generosity and wealth. As a general rule, God increases our wealth as our giving increases and when our goal is God's Kingdom and his righteousness; but God holds back financial blessing when our motives are not right and we hoard wealth.
