This is the first message in a series essential doctrines of the Christian faith. There are serious differences in what is considered to be truth by those who proclaim that they are Christian churches. There are some beliefs we hold that do not constitute criteria for avoiding fellowship with others. For example, the form of church government is not actually a doctrine of salvation. However other truths are essential for Christian fellowship. For example, those who understand that salvation is by grace where someone receives Christ as Savior by an act of faith. However, other groups insist that salvation is a gift imparted by sacraments of an organized church. This is a fundamental difference since one is a work of man and the other is the grace of God. In these cases, scriptural churches cannot fellowship or condone a doctrine of works. A lot of people say, "why can't we just all get along?" While that sounds wonderful, the Bible actually calls us to come out from among those who live in error and unrighteousness and to be separate from them. Pastor Robert Rohlin in this message shows the scriptural foundation and discusses two of the three types of essential separation that Christians must practice. The third type will be discussed in next week's sermon. It is highly recommended that you listen to this message before listening to any of the rest of the series because the truce in this lesson are foundational to everything that follows.
