Debt and sin forgiven without Repentance? (Luke 17:3-4) "¶ Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. {4} And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him."
If a BROTHER repents of a sin against us, we are to forgive. If someone does NOT repent, are we to forgive them? Does God forgive without repentance?
(Matthew 18:26-27) "The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. {27} Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt."
The servant asked for patience, THEN the king had compassion.
Did Paul forgive the silversmith? Or did he tell others of his treachery? All belongs to the Lord God! We are to lend, not expecting anything back:
(Luke 6:35-36) "But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. {36} Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."
God says we are to love our enemies, yes, but I still do not see forgiveness WITHOUT repentance in scripture. Please correct |
