Can you believe in Christ but deny the Trinity?
Why is the doctrine of the Trinity, and the place of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Trinity, so important? The answer is that the doctrine of the Trinity is not merely a theological technicality. It is essential Christian truth. To believe in the God of the Bible is to believe in the Trinity. If you don't believe in the Trinity, you don't believe in the God of the Bible.
Without the Trinity, there is no Father to whom we must be reconciled. Without the Trinity, there is no Son who became God incarnate in order to reconcile us to the Father. Without the Trinity, there is no indwelling Spirit as the seal of our redemption.
Today, the Trinity is neglected or poorly taught in many churches. The rise of feminism has colored many Evangelicals' thinking about God the Father. Over-emphasis of the humanity of Jesus has diminished Evangelicals' understanding of the deity of God the Son. The charismatic, word-faith, and other doctrinally deviant movements have spread false conceptions about God the Holy Spirit that are often blasphemous.
