Seminary never taught me to talk about this…

I went to an awesome seminary – the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas – where I learned to study and to preach expository messages from the inerrant, infallible, inspired, and imperative Word of God. I would not trade the experience for anything.

However, I find myself involved in ministries and subject matters at First Baptist Church Las Colinas that nothing in seminary ever addressed.

One of these topics is the economy. Because I believe that Christ should permeate every area of my life, I believe that the Bible is a great deal to say about how I should spend and earn financial resources. As a pastor, I believe it is negligent to only preach about abstract theological matters when the Bible is a practical handbook for daily living. The United States is currently in the midst of a looming financial crisis which I believe will produce a depression of greater magnitude than that of the 1930s. For that reason, I have now delivered three messages on the subject of preparing Christians for the coming economic collapse. This series is entitled "Stewardship God's Way."

Significant events have happened in August 2011 which show that the end of the dollar is hastening. I am not a prophet, nor an economic wizard. However, I have made great effort to study what is happening in our economy and believe that every Christian needs to take time to prepare themselves to be better equipped to minister to others in a difficult economic future.

I am not able to give you specific financial advice, but would encourage you to listen to the series on the coming economic collapse. I pray that you will immediately begin preparation of a practical nature while always keeping your focus on Jesus Christ as the only security you will ever have.

Because of His blood,

Robert
