Our Father in Heaven, blessed is the name of the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Eternal God, strong to save, shed Thy mercy upon us this day.

Lord, we fear that the modern Church has created an image to worship and we have not bowed down to the One Sovereign and Holy God. We treat you as if You were dependent on us. We treat You as if You have nothing to say beyond spiritual issues. We have removed You from the educational institutions of our land. Our national leaders have created a god who is no god at all. A god who declares all religions equal is no god at all. A god who loves the wicked even as He loves the righteous is no god at all. A God who does not judge the sins of men is no god at all. Lord, we have created a new Baal and called him our god.

How long O Lord must we wait until we see Your justice? How long will You tolerate the destruction of the unborn? How long will You tolerate sodomy in the land? How long will You tolerate theft as men mix dross with gold and add water to the wine? How long must the people of God suffer the taunting and condescension of the wicked?

We are a land proud of our religious pluralism. We are a land who is puffed up about our religious freedom. Yet, we do not know that we are in bondage. We do not know that the religions of Satan have no place at the table of the Triune God. Our old enemies come with a white flag of peace, but the end will only be war. Rather than one people we will become many tribes who fight against each other. Rather than a melting pot, we shall become a boiling pot. Lord, have mercy upon us.

O Lord, arise and come forth on the clouds. Darken the sun and turn the moon into blood. Bring judgment on those who despise Your holy Name. Lord, as you come in judgment, have mercy upon us. Remember us in the Day of Judgment. Lord, we have no plea but Christ. We have no hope but Christ. Without Him to protect us under the shelter of His wings, we too will fall like dust in the air that falls to the ground.

Where is the prophet of this age? Where is the wise man? Lord, have You removed from us those who know the signs of the time? Is there no one like Moses to lead us? Lord, raise up men who not only know Thy word, but who know the world, who know the ways of man, and who can speak the truth to the issues of the day. Thy word on paper is powerless. Thy word spoken by men moved by the Holy Spirit is full of power. Lord, at our best, we are shallow. At our height, we have our heads in the sand. In our best clothes, we are but wearing filthy rags. In our wise speech, we are ignorant. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Lord, even in our trials give us the grace of hope. Even in our sickness, give us the grace of mercy. Even in our days of discouragement, give us the light of your countenance. When the heart sinks low, raise us up. When the mind becomes obsessed with small things, break the chain that enslaves us.

Lord, help us to remember that You are in control of all things. Whether our days are filled with joy or with sorrow, You have a purpose in all things. You have ordained the end from the beginning. Why should we worry? Why should we be anxious? Christ has been enthroned and we are children of the King. Christ rules over all and we shall never fall. Christ shed his blood for our sins and we shall ultimately win.

Give us joy in the morning and peace at night. Give us days full of laughter and nights filled with good dreams. Give us love in the Church. Help us all to admit our failures and frailty so that none of us will feel ill at ease. Let us all admit our weakness so that none may feel awkward. We feel out of place among the strong. We feel at home among the weak. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Let not any among us think higher of himself than he should think.

Lord, bless our worship. May it be pleasing in Thy sight. May we all say as we leave here today that it has been good to be in the house of the Lord. All these things we ask in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
