Prayer 5.30.2010

Lord, we come to You as our Father. You are not our enemy. You are not a stranger who does not know us. You are not a King who does not have time to hear us. You are here in our midst. You have a listening ear. You are anxious to hear our prayers and You are eager to answer them, every one of them.

Lord, we believe this because we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Never did He speak an untruth. Never did He misrepresent Thee. He was perfect in everything. We believe everything He said was the truth. We believe that He is the only Mediator between us and Thee. We believe that no one can come to the Father apart from Him. We believe what He spoke to us. Ask and ye shall receive. Knock and the door will be opened to you.

Thus Lord, through the person and the name of Jesus Christ we approach Thee here this morning. Fools come to You apart from Jesus. Witches use sorcery to approach Thee. Deists and Theists think they can approach Thee apart from Jesus Christ by just praying to a god common to all men. Some men cry out in a crisis. Some men pray by repetition. Some men do not pray at all. Lord, we know that the prayer of the wicked is an abomination to Thee. We know that it is dangerous to enter into the holy place without a mediator. We know that the only name under Heaver whereby men must be saved is the Name of Jesus Christ.

Lord, we are asked by the world to compromise our faith. We are asked to just believe in a god common to all religions. We hear our leaders pray to god, but He is not really the true God. We are called upon to accommodate other religions, but to accommodate other gods is to reject the Lord Jesus Christ. To set Jesus aside while we do anything and everything is sinful. To teach about God's creation apart from Christ is sinful. To lead a nation apart from Christ is sinful. To choose a wife apart from Christ is sinful. To work at our careers apart from Christ is sinful. Our Father, all of the creation belongs to You. Every thought is to be brought captive to the Lordship of Christ. To do otherwise may mean we are good Americans, but it really only means we are foolish Christians. Co-belligerence with others and leaving out Christ is doomed to fail. It has failed, yet we continue to think that we can cooperate with others leaving out Christ, and somehow we think You shall bless us. What fools we have been, and what fools we are. Forgive us Lord, for our sins.

Our Father, we think the world is bad and indeed there is much that is detestable. Yet, Lord, times have been worse. Christians have been nailed to crosses. Christians have been thrown to the lions and their bodies torn apart. Christians have been starved and left to die in dark dungeons. And yet in a short time, You destroyed all their enemies. You cast the wicked down to the ground and raised the Christian up to rule the nations. From the darkness arose the children of light. Those who taunted the Christians became those who were taunted. Those who killed believers became those who were killed. Lord, we suffer for a short time, but not for long. The great God of hosts will come with his mighty army riding on a cloud with fire in His eyes and a silver sword in His hand, and He shall meet out vengenence upon all of our enemies. Justice will prevail, because we have a God who is a God of justice. Liars and fornicators, thieves and murderers - they shall all find their day of suffering at the hand of our God. Every wrong will be made right. Every curse will be returned with a curse. Every hurt will be returned with hurt. Almighty God, You shall bring justice to the earth, and when we see justice, we will shout with praise and sing with joy.

Yet, we have lived in a time of peace. The storms are on the horizon, but we still have time to repent. The earth is about to be shattered, but we still have time to turn from our ways. O Lord, bring true repentance to our churches so that the word of God may again be proclaimed to the nations. The church has become irrelevant. We are providing entertainment to a generation dying in sin. Where we should be speaking, we are silent or we have made a pact with the devil. We are looking for ways to grow our churches, but we are not bold enough to proclaim the whole counsel of God. Until the church repents, what hope is there for the world? Until we fall on our knees and pray, what hope is there for the world? Until we commit our paths to Thee and learn to suffer for Thee, what hope is there for the world? Lord, forgive us of our sins.

It is not too late to repent. It is not too late to change our ways. It is not too late to save a dying world. Lord, give power to Thy word. Give power to those men who preach the whole counsel of God. Give power as we witness for You day by day. Father, we ask all these things in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
