Our Father in Heaven, we confess that You are the only true and living God. We believe in One God in three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We worship no other god. All other gods are false.

Lord, You have told us in Thy Word, that we are to ask, and it will be given to us. We are to seek and we shall find. We are to knock and the door will be opened to us. Lord, here we are, asking, seeking, and knocking.

Lord, You have told us that You are even more loving than earthly fathers. What man is there among us who when his son asks for a loaf of bread, would he give him a stone? What man is there among us who when his son asks for a fish, would he give him a snake? Surely if earthly fathers know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will our Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him. Lord, here we are and we are asking, seeking and knocking. Hear us, oh Loving Father.

Lord, we ask now for the necessities of life. There is much in life that we do not need and for those things we do not ask. We do ask for the food and water we need to feed our bodies. We do ask for the shelter that we need to protect ourselves from the rain and from the sun. We do ask for the clothes we need to cover bodies. Lord, we do ask for the health to do our work to provide for our families. We do ask for jobs that are dependable. Lord, we are not asking for things that merely fill our lusts and merely to spend on ourselves. .

Lord, give us faith that can quench the fires that threaten us. When trials face us and temptations surround us, give us Thy grace that we may stand in the day of evil. For what is of greater value in this life but the blessing of faith? By faith men conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, and from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, and put foreign armies to flight.

Lord, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, help us to also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin that so easily besets us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

By faith, men have found contentment. Whether rich or poor, they found the secret of being content. Lord, we are not men to conquer great kingdoms, but we do need to conquer ourselves as we tend to worry and be anxious.

Give us a good conscience. Except for our faith, there may be nothing more precious in this world than a good conscience. We must strive daily to keep a good conscience before God and before men. As Christians, when we sin, it hurts so much. We hurt ourselves. We hurt our families. We hurt our Church. We hurt our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sin kills and destroys. Sin brought upon us the curse of death. Sin kills the spirit as well as the body. Oh Lord, how much we need a Savior. How much do we need One who will deliver us?

Lord, help us to remember that there is for us reserved in Heaven an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and that will not fade away. Help us to remember that we are being kept by the goodness of God for that blessing. Help us to know that even though tested by fire, the Lord is in our midst, and help us to see Him and rejoice in Him even when we are being tried in this world.

Lord, help us to love the brethren and not to neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. Help us to remember those who are ill-treated for the faith.

Our Father, help our leaders to maintain the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. Let not men of the modern day move the ancient boundary marks. We live in a day when so much is new. Everything is changing. It's hard to discern what is good and not good. We need wisdom.

Lord, bless this the Lord's Day. Even unbelievers know the blessing of a day of rest. Even though they deny You and Your law, yet they take advantage of the blessings You ordain.

Lord, we pray for the Church Universal. We pray for men everywhere today of every tongue and of every color who gather together to worship the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray for these who suffer persecution in foreign lands.

Lord, we pray for our own Church. Lord, You have raised us up for a purpose. Other churches minister to the needs of their people and so do we. We pray for peace among us. We pray for love that reaches out. We pray for a spirit of forgiveness where others have been offended. We pray for a spirit of charity where we are unsure about the love of others.

We ask all these things in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
