Fear The Lord

Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name -- Psalm 86:11

A proper fear of the Lord is of the Lord; all other fear comes from sin. A right fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; (Psalm 111:10) it reveals a work of grace in the soul. When a sinner fears the Lord he is recognizing His Lordship over all. He recognizes the Lord’s right to do with him as he will; He is the potter I am the clay. He recognizes the absolute holiness of the Lord; for the first time he sees God as He is; ‘holy’ (Isaiah 6; 3). And for the first time grace truly becomes grace, unmerited favor. This fear is healthy and will cause a sinner to walk humbly before the Lord. Psalm 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Psalm 34:9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

-- John Chapman

Faith Should Permeate All Aspects of Your Life

Mr. Spurgeon once said, “Sincere seekers after righteousness quietly dissolve their faith and godliness in their lives and sweeten all their common relationships therewith. The real believer flavors his ordinary life with grace, so that his wife, his children, his fellow-workmen, and his neighbors are the better for it.”

A man’s faith ought to be what smell is to the rose what light is to the sun. A good attitude and spirit toward all should be the outcome of indwelling grace. A division of the secular and the spiritual is fatal to both. In true grace they are forever united. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh” or “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

In Every Moment, Thank God

In happy moments, praise God. In difficult moments, seek God.

In quiet moments, worship God. In every moment, thank God. -- Marvin Stalnaker

GOD SAVE THE KING!

This phrase is from a song written in the mid 1700’s of the same title. With the crowning of a new king in the UK, it is on all forms of media this week. What a wonderful thing it would be if a new heart, born of God in His child, sang its request for the leader of the nation to be saved! Oh, that the Lord would give us hearts like Christ, that are compassionate, and “would that all men be saved”. Let’s pray for our President, our Governor, our leaders – that Christ would be revealed in them and magnified in their hearts! That would make for a loving and peaceful country!

-- Kevin Thacker

Forgive and Forget

“When you bury a mad dog, don’t leave his tail above the ground.” -- Spurgeon
