What Suits Me – by Donald Bell

Being the sinner I am, knowing my weakness and inability, God has provided me just what I need; He suits my needs.

His Word suits my need. It tells me of God and who He is, what He does in this world and what He will do in the world to come. His Word tells of His absolute sovereignty, of how He can be a just God and savior. That salvation is by His will not, man’s. That salvation is what God does for man, not what man does for God.

His Will suits me from the top of my head down to my feet. I know His will is the best thing for me. Thank God He has not left me to my will, but in his infinite wisdom orders all things for my good and His glory. His Will is perfect, which suits my imperfection.

The Lord Jesus Christ suits my needs as a sinner: His blood cleanses me from all sin, His obedience is given in place of my rebellion, and His righteousness is given to me in place of my righteousness, which is a filthy rag.

His word tell me Christ Jesus came to save sinners….I’m one of them. That He came to seek and save the lost, I was one of them. In fact I was so lost that only He could find me, and bless His holy name, He found me and saved me from my sin which was so great.

His word tells me that not only has He saved me from my sin and my rebellion, but that He will carry on His work. Not one for whom He died will ever be cast out, which gives assurance that I will not ever be forsaken of Him.

Yes, everything from His Word, His will, and His Son and the salvation that He has given me suits me perfectly.

Sin Experienced, Salvation Enjoyed – J.C. Philpot

We do not learn that we are sinners merely by reading it in the Bible. It must be wrought, I might say, burnt into us. Nor will anyone sincerely and spiritually cry for mercy, a sense of pardon and reconciliation by the application of atoning blood, until sin in its misery, in its dominion, in its guilt, in its entanglements, in its wiles and allurements, in its filth and pollution, and in its condemnation, is spiritually felt and known. Where the Holy Ghost works, he kindles sighs, groans, supplications, wrestlings, strivings, and pleadings to know Christ, feel his love, taste the efficacy of his atoning blood, and embrace him as all our salvation and all our desire. And though there may, and doubtless will be, much barrenness, hardness, deadness, and apparent carelessness often felt, still that heavenly Teacher will revive his work, though often by painful methods; nor will he let the quickened soul rest short of a personal and experimental enjoyment of Christ and his glorious salvation.

Doing All To The Glory of God – by David Eddmenson

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. -- 1 Cor.10:31

Life, what’s it all about? What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? What is our purpose here on earth? These are questions that people often ask. There are a lot of books written concerning these questions, which sadly are all about us! But there is only one Book needed to answer these selfish questions, and that is the Book of God, the Holy Bible, the Word of God.

Everything that you need to know about your life, about who you are, about why you are here, and about your purpose while here, is written in this Book. What does this Book say? What does God say? Is life all about us? Is our life in this world all about our successes? Is life here on earth all about our comforts? We sure act like it is. Are we here to build our dynasty, record our legacy, leave our mark on society, have our names written down in history? We sure act like we are. Is that what your life is? Do we so selfishly live for ourselves, and the vanity of our own lusts, that we don’t even consider the glory of our Savior and our God in the matter?

Paul, in this short statement, brings every believer back to reality from their selfish vanity. Whatever we do in this life, whether we eat or whether we are hungry, we must give all the glory to God. Whether we drink, or whether we are thirsty, we give all the glory to God! Paul wrote to the church at Philippi and said, “For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:11-14) In short, life here is not about us, but all about the glory of God in the Lord Jesus Christ. Child of God, whatever you do, do all to the glory of God!
