Nothing About Christ Gets Old
I get worried about people unto whom the Gospel gets old. I wonder if eating or breathing gets old to them! For a man who knows Christ, nothing about him gets old—It is something new every day! -- Scott Richardson
Evil Communications Corrupt Good Manners(1 Cor.15:33)
It is easy to catch a disease from another, but not to catch health. The bad will sooner corrupt the good, than the good will convert the bad. – Thomas Watson
As His Father was never nearer Him in strength to support him, than when He was furthest off in sense of favour to comfort Him; so Christ is never nearer us in power to uphold us, than when He seemeth most to hide His presense from us.
Talk Like Everyone is Listening
I use my phone to broadcast our services ‘live’, and last Wednesday night, about an hour or so after the service, I discovered that my phone was still on ‘live recording.’ All of my private conversations were heard by whomever was still listening. Of course I thought back all that was said. Then the thought occurred to me, ‘we should talk in private as if everyone were listening. We should talk to each other and talk about, or not talk about each other as if everyone is listening. And we should act in private like everyone is watching. Someone is listening and watching. He Who matters most. . . our Lord. “There is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O LORD, Thou knowest it altogether (Ps.139:4). “His eyes behold all things. He even knows our thoughts.
Fact is, if our hearts and minds were pure, merciful, and kind, then our private conversations and conduct would be without shame and reproach. The Lord said: “Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgment” (Mt.12:36). So all of our words are being recorded.
May our conversation be holy and heavenly and may our conduct be like Christ, both publicly and privately.
LEARNING CHRIST
In the few years I have been preaching there is one thing I have learned, it is this, we can never say enough, preach enough, think enough, exalt enough, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Master told us to “take my yoke upon you and learn of me.” Beloved what a glorious task, Our Lord Jesus gave us. There is so much to learn about His person.
How much do we know about His person as The Eternal God? Oh, the glory of His Godhead. How could he be both God the Son and be God the everlasting Father?
How could He remain God, control all things, uphold all things by the word of His power and yet at one and the same time come into this world He created, and come into the womb of a virgin, and become something He never was before, Man?
But Oh WHAT A MAN! Sinless in His thoughts, sinless in His words, sinless in His deeds, without sin before the Holiness of God Almighty. So Glorious in His sinless life, that the heavens opened one day and God Himself spoke and said;“This is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” I say Speak Lord, by your grace I will listen.
God helping us let us begin again to “learn of him, take His yoke upon ourselves, learn of his meekness, his lowliness, there is rest for our souls in learning of him”.
The man who knows the most about Christ knows so little, the man who sees Christ the best will say “I see through a glass darkly”. Just because I know so little, doesn’t mean I’m going to stop learning, because I don’t see all I want too doesn’t mean I’m going to quit looking. Someday in the near future, you and I will see clearly what we now see so dimly.“We shall see Him as He is, and we shall be like him”. But our seeing and our knowing starts here. Do you know Him? Have you COME to Him? Are you learning of Him? -- Donald Bell
