Kept From The Evil -- That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive . .” – Ephesians 4:14

Christ gives his preachers not only for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry and the edifying of the body of Christ, not only to bring us to the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God but also to keep us from the evil influence of false preachers. (Eph 4: 8-14) Christ intercedes with the Father, “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (Jn 17: 15-17) So Christ sends his true preachers to warn us of false preachers. God’s preacher has not been faithful to Christ who does not do so.

God always describes false preachers as “using sleight of hand, cunning craftiness, lying in wait to deceive.” Scriptures give three things that false preachers do to commend themselves to men: they commend themselves BY themselves: by their education, achievements, letters of recommendation; also, they commend themselves TO men: to fleshly appetites by preaching man’s will and works; also, they commend themselves in the SIGHT of men: doing all to impress and please men and gain the favor of men. Christ’s preachers simply preach Christ from the word of God giving God all glory in Christ and the sinner none in every message they preach. Christ himself commends his preacher to his people writing the truth on the hearts of his people through the gospel. (2 Cor 3: 1-3) – Clay Curtis

The more we are in the presence of Him Whom our souls love, the less we can bear to be out of it. – Scott Richardson

To Worship God In The Spirit

To worship God in the spirit is to worship without the use of idolatrous images and rituals. It is a heart worship of the living God. Yet, it is much more than that. It is worshipping God in the power of and under the influence of the Holy Spirit. True worship is born in the heart by the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the Word of God, revealing Christ in us; and He causes us to worship God. It is the Spirit of Christ in the heart that produces all characteristics of true worship: humility, faith, repentance, submission, adoration, and obedience to God. – Don Fortner

Preaching is more than a religious ceremony or some facts to be debated, accepted, or rejected. True preaching is God speaking through a man and carries with it a call – a command from the living God to be received and obeyed. – Henry Mahan

Beware of people who curse and swear! Keep clear of those who do not value their own character. A person who will blaspheme the name of the Lord of glory will make no bones of lying to you nor stealing from you. – Charles Spurgeon

The Window -- “A window shalt thou make to the ark . . .” -- Genesis 6:16

The ark which Noah built had one window; one source of light; one way to view the world outside. The Word of God is the window. “The entrance of Thy words giveth light”( Psa.119:130). “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my path” (119:105) The world is in darkness, dimness and anguish of spirit because they do not read, hear, regard, nor understand God’s Word. But God’s children; children of light, walk in the light of His Word. And that Word shows us Christ the light.

Christ is that window. “I am the light of the world.” Only in light of Christ do we see Who God is, what man is, and the Truth of salvation in Christ, like in that ark. If Noah and family looked out that one window, all they saw was a perishing world. In light of God’s Word we see the world as perishing. From the words of Christ Himself we see this world as perishing and our whole life is in Him, by Him, because of Him. Keep close to the window and you will not be in darkness as others.
